ABOUT ME

Marco Muñoz is a Visual Arts teacher at Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr. Leadership Academy and Halsey Academy of Finance with the Elizabeth Public School system. Mr. Muñoz is employed with the Elizabeth Public School System for eight years beginning as an ESL instructor and as a kindergarten teacher assistant. In addition, Mr. Munoz has mentored many Newark high school students in the ART REACH Program sponsored by the City Without Walls in Newark, New Jersey. Mr. Munoz has received numerous awards through-out New York and New Jersey as well as Internationally receiving the prestigious German, Hasselblad award in photography and an Honorable mention at the French Leica awards.  Mr. Munoz recently accomplished painting the William F. Halsey Academy Mural displayed outside the Main office  here at Halsey.

 

Mr. Muñoz graduated with the highest honors at Thomas Jefferson High School class of 1977 receiving a full scholarship to the Arts Institute of Chicago where he completed his undergraduate work with high honors. He furthered his studies at Kean University receiving  BA and BFA degrees in Art History and Fine Arts Studio. At the age of 27 he started his own construction business and maintained his practice for fifteen years. Mr. Muñoz is  still  a licensed union carpenter.  As a carpenter, he was commissioned to Newark Liberty Airport  to renovate Terminal C.  Mr. Muñoz currently speaks four languages and is fluent in three.  He continues to display his  art work  in Europe, Asia, and South America as well as locally. He believes strongly that creativity is the key that unlocks the secret of greatness in human achievement.

 Mr. Muñoz is married to his lovely wife, Ellen and enjoys Kayaking and biking as well as traveling.
